Random thoughts

I titled this 'Random thoughts' because there were a few things I wanted to say without having to break this up into different posts (I'm lazy).

Pablo went to see his urologist today. As I've mentioned before, Pablo has more medical issues than just the brain tumour. Right now he is having major issues with a disease/condition called Lichens Sclerosis. To sum up the issue, Pablo has scar tissue built up in his urethra and for months now, has needed a surgery to correct this problem. After this morning's consultation, the surgery is either going to be sometime in July or if some re-arranging can be done, then it could take place in a couple weeks. The details of this surgery are...not pleasant at all. So much so that I'm not sure if I should even post details.....

It would be nice to get this surgery over with this month since I am working from home for the month and since Pablo is still recovering from brain surgery (and can't overdo it). He'd like to be able to enjoy a bit of our short summer so he really doesn't want to have the surgery in July.

I wanted to say a big thank you to Pablo's grandparents for coming a long way (Leamington - close to Windsor) to visit with him (and all of us) this week. It's hard for them to travel such a long distance and they really wanted to see Pablo post-surgery to see how he's doing. Them coming here has meant alot.

We also had the pleasure of having a friend of mine, Ella, and her husband Alek, come down from Toronto to see us not too long ago. This visit also meant a great deal because Ella is recovering from a serious car accident and I know it wasn't easy coming all the way to Ottawa. I hadn't seen Ella in about 3 years and boy did I miss her! Isabella fell in love with Ella and talked about her for days after their visit.

Lastly, I'm going to really try to get back to my regular posting of kids' rooms. I've missed those posts. The almost daily doctor's appointments are slowing down and it's getting easier juggling working from home and watching the '3 kids'. LOL. So to those of you who come for kids' room decor - hang in there!

Have a great weekend everyone!

  1. I couldn't make it thru reading all of your prior posts about your husbands illness without bawling. I just wanted you to know that whilst I may be a complete stranger, you & your family will be in my thoughts.

  2. That is very sweet of you Hollie! Thank you!

This blog started off being about kids' rooms and Isabella's wacky humour and then 'the tumour' happened...never a dull moment! Thanks for joining the roller coaster ride over here!

  3. one of my favorite statements of all time: life is what happens while you're busy making other plans. Your raw honesty and good spirit is inspirational.

  4. Thanks Hollie.

    I like that statement!

I recently came across one that has got to be my favourite: life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass but learning to dance in the rain.

  5. Man, he's getting it from both ends isn't he? Literally. But seriously, tough stuff going on. I hope your weekend went well. Gabe and I went to visit a friend and I actually spent one night all alone in a hotel. Gasp! Quiet! ;-)

  6. It never freaking stops but might as well get it all done now I guess...

The weekend was pretty good except I decided to clean out the 2 small storage rooms in the basement. That was a job and a half...but at least it's done and I gave a large amount of baby clothes to my little sister (freed of some storage space).

A night alone!?!? I am insanely jealous right now. I can't even remember when the last time I had 8 uninterrupted hours of sleep...even 6...how very sad...Anyway, I hope you and Gabe had a good time!

  7. It was Gabe's first time without both Joe and me. He'd been alone with one or the other of us but never without both. I was sad until I got to the hotel alone. ;-)

  8. I think it's harder for us than it is for the kids...we tend to worry for no reason. Because I'm always with the kids (especially since I've been working from home for the last couple months), I'm sad to leave them even for a few hours. If I had a hotel room to myself, the sadness would maybe last 5 seconds because come on, that is what dreams are made of (when your the mom of little ones).
