Medical update

My goodness this has been a long week...

Today was a bad day. We all got up early and drove the kids to my parents' place for 8am because Pablo had to be at the hospital for 8:50 for his July surgery pre-op. We dropped off the kids and started heading to the hospital. About 5-10 minutes into the drive, Pablo checks his cell phone messages and, our luck, there was a message saying that the appointment was no longer happening this morning, it has been moved to June 28th. I suppressed the urge to scream all the profanities I know and turned around and drove back to my parents'. I can't even tell you the number of times hospital appointments have gotten changed in the last couple of months. It is absolutely ridiculous.

Back to Thursday's doctor's appointment. The doctor looked at the hole in Pablo's leg and noted how much it had improved. It didn't need to be 'stuffed' anymore (with gauze) just some gauze over the hole and taped to his leg. Thank goodness. The doctor had a little chat with me about how I am coping with everything and I said 'I'm doing alright'. There are good days and there are exhausting, bad days. She asked if I needed some time off work and I said that I was coping and that wasn't necessary right now. She asked if I had a good support system and I said 'Well you know how fantastic my family is' (since she is everyone's doctor). Then I said 'And I have a website and that has helped alot'. She smiles and says 'Oh you have a blog?' LOL! Then she asked for the name of it so that she can make sure I'm not talking badly about her. AS IF! I told her not to worry, I don't use her name. She had a good laugh. Little does she know how much she means to all of us, that if it wasn't for her, who knows what would have happened to Pablo...

On a brighter, oh so joyous note, the hunt is on to find items for the trailer...I've already made a couple Etsy purchases so stay tuned!!!

  1. I haven't commented in a while but I have been thinking about you and have you in my prayers. It seems the medical issues keep coming, which I'm so sorry to hear. You are so strong and courageous. The happy smile on Isabella in that trailer though is proof of your strength and ability to keep your family in a good place despite everything that's surrounding you all right now. Something brilliant must come out of all this. Huge hugs.

  2. Ugh, how frustrating! I hope they don't reschedule again. I'm glad his leg is doing better, at least.

I meant to comment earlier this week on the trailer - it's awesome. I want one.

  3. Thank you kk for the kind words. Blogging all this has been such good therapy for me! Pablo and I have both needed to be strong for the kids. We want them to be as happy as they were before all the medical problems started. Strong for ourselves too of course to get through this without losing our minds.

Kristy, I'm glad you like the trailer! And I am glad too about his leg because we certainly didn't need to add more appointments to our long list of already scheduled ones...

  4. Man, what a week! Sorry I've been a little out of touch--Joe and I went to NY for the weekend (Wed-Sun) while he had business there. Got back and got rid of the MIL yesterday. (Not in a bad way!) And getting FIL and step-MIL today. Yikes!!!!
